Project Context and Description

In support of the development of microfinance in Tunisia, the Tunisian government has received financial assistance from Luxembourg’s international cooperation and the European Investment Bank (MICROMED project). The Luxembourg microfinance organization ADA has been responsible for the management of this project.

As part of this project and in anticipation of the creation of a national financial inclusion observatory, a study on financial inclusion in Tunisia was commissioned, with proposals for appropriate indicators for measuring financial inclusion.

  • Collecting qualitative and quantitative data on financial inclusion in Tunisia, statistical data from the INS and on Micro Enterprises
  • Documentary study on financial inclusion in Tunisia
  • Assessing demand for financial and non-financial products and services
  • Analysis of demand-supply gap
  • Defining indicators to measure financial inclusion in accordance with international practices
  • Organizing a national seminar to present and discuss the results of the study.
